Charity

bake-it-better

Working with charities has been one of the highlights of life post-Bake Off. I mainly work with two London-based charities – Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH) and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).

Great Ormond Street Bake It Better

For GOSH, each year I get involved in their Bake It Better campaign, judging bake sales for them or providing recipes. I take part in their annual Race for the Kids 5K event, which is a really fun way to get active with my own children.

I also get my running shoes on for ZSL in their fundraising 10K Zoo Stampedes. I try to promote their fundraising and campaign activities on Twitter as often as possible and write articles for their members’ magazine, Wild About. I am so passionate about the conservation work done by ZSL that it’s a total privilege to be able to work with them in any way I can. For example, through promoting their #OneLess campaign about the over-use of plastic bottles:

I mainly concentrate on GOSH and ZSL so that I can be as helpful to them as possible. I have also raised funds for the Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund – a smaller charity doing incredible work in the field of skin cancer. I can often provide recipes for other charities, such as Children in Need. Unfortunately I am not able to attend all of the charity events I am invited to but if you want to get in touch about me providing a recipe for your charity, you can contact me here and I will try to help.
