My kitchen’s been like a cake factory this week. Not bad timing for the first week of The Great British Bake Off to start again.
So I’m officially a published author! The first copy of my book, B.I.Y. Bake It Yourself, arrived this week and it looks fantastic.
I’ve had a fantastic week this week getting to do some really cool things and ending in a great Father’s Day.
A great week ending in my daughter’s 6th birthday party. My kids’ birthday cakes are one of the main reasons I got into baking in the first place. This one was particularly sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
One of the best things about being on Bake Off was learning so many different baking techniques: pastries, tarts, éclairs, etc. But without fail, it’s cakes that prove the most popular and that I’m still asked to make most often. I’ve probably got more cake recipes buzzing around my head at any one time than anything else and cakes have kept me busy in the kitchen this past fortnight. So I’m going to share a few of my top tips…
