It’s raining, it’s cold, the heating’s on, the winter duvet’s on the bed. Donald Trump might become the most powerful man on the planet in a few days. What better time to hunker down and eat cake. Come on, join me, you know it makes sense!

Just back from a long, Halloweeny weekend in the countryside for half term. It’s been a great week including Candice’s well deserved Bake Off win.

It’s half term week for us so a great excuse to do some fun baking with the kids. Why not try giving this fougasse recipe a go – perfect for Halloween!

I was lucky enough to go to the ChildLine 30th Anniversary Ball this week. It was a Bake Off themed event and best of all, all of this year’s Great British Bake Off stars were there too!

I’ve had three weeks on the trot where I’ve been surrounded by my GBBO family. The Great British Bake Off has given a lot of happiness to millions of people, but to me it’s given me a wonderful bunch of friends too.

What a week! They say a week is a long time in politics but it’s been even longer in the world of Bake Off. I need a lie down, but first, there’s plenty of news to update you on…

My kitchen’s been like a cake factory this week. Not bad timing for the first week of The Great British Bake Off to start again.

We’ve been westward-bound this week soaking up the beauty of the English countryside and catching up with Bake Off friends.

I’ve had a very busy week catching up with a lot of good friends. Hugely proud of Martha too, as she launched her first (of many I’m sure) recipe book, Twist.

All my baking this week has been school related so here’s a delicious and simple recipe for banana bread. It’s a great bake to make with kids and can be scaled up very easily too.
