No matter what your politics, this has been an extraordinary week. I’ve been taking comfort in some of life’s more simple pleasures this week: family, food, fresh air and music.

This week’s cake took a few hours and a steady hand but hopefully some of the tips I’ll share on today’s blog will help you try piping like this yourselves.

The past week has been back to work, back to school, and working my way through a load of DIY jobs round the house. So let’s see if I can help you with some of yours…

First blog of the year and it’s a resolution-free zone. Time for a quick look back and look forward though. I’ll feel ready for 2017 once the hangover subsides…

My final baking projects of the year are done and dusted and I’m really looking forward to Christmas now. The only bakes left to make are the ones that my family and I are going to enjoy over the next week or so. If you want to give the gingerbread house above a go, this week’s blog has everything you need to know.

Nursing an almighty hangover today after a fantastic wedding yesterday. It’s all the effort I can muster to blog tonight but I’ve been baking up a few winter wonderland bakes this week so a quick post about them.

I’m pretty much going to be baking non-stop between now and Christmas. This week has included a real highlight for me.

Feeling hungry? Bake. Feeling down? Bake. Feeling bored? Bake. Feeling excited about Christmas? Bake. Want to cheer someone up? Bake. Want to raise some money for charity? Bake. I’m not saying baking will solve all your problems, but it’s a pretty good place to start!
